- I think the question is, do you have other external devices on the 50
- pin scsi cable? If you are using the cable that came with the
- CDR-25BJ and do *not* have a seperate terminator plug assembly
- between the cable and the back of the CD player, then in most cases
- you aren't terminated. Munged city. I had a considerable amount of
- trouble with mine early on, swapping controller cards and whatnot,
- eventually sending it back. I was dumb enough to include the
- terminator. When MediaVision returned another to me, there wasn't a
- terminator in the box. I called and yelled rather explicitely about
- somebodies parentage and was asked why I didn't use the drives
- builtin termination.
-
- Well, I'll wait while you consult your owners manual, but I'll wager
- a cold one that you can't find *any* references to a bulltin
- terminator, or any terminator for that matter. But wait, it gets
- better!
-
- It seems that on the bottom where it gives a list of scsi addresses
- vs dipswitch setting, noteing the 4 and 5 are usually off. Well,
- MediaVision never did tell me what switch 4 did, but switch 5 is the
- terminator. Just turn it on. Here, the device was crazier than a
- bowl of rice crispies even with a 2091 rev 6.6 driving it. Nothing
- else I had access to even came close to working, and that pile of
- cards started with one of our better known cards which at the time
- was being advertized as doing it all.
-
- Well, that one *still* didn't work, neither did a rev 4.9 Trumpcard,
- a couple of hardframes went thru that slot too. But the 2091a is now
- absolutely bulletproof with switch 5 on.
